“The salvation of the Florida scene will come about only if the public savors its beauty, understands its limitations, and speaks up for its preservation.” – Marjorie Harris Carr
- MWK hosts a variety of community outreach activities around the Bay. These include educational booths and kid’s arts & crafts projects at community events, which to connect you and your family to the wonders of our Bay. Our goal is to help you enjoy your beautiful Bay!
Here are a few examples of past events:
SPLASH Miami – MWK worked with the Biscayne Nature Center to host the SPLASH Miami event. A family friendly event, the full day of activities included a seagrass exploration catch & release, a nature walk on the beach of Key Biscayne, water & ocean themed crafts projects and kayak and stand-up paddle board demonstrations, made possible by national sponsors KEEN and Toyota.
Art By the Sea – Hosted by Big Blue and You on the sand of South Beach, children and their families learned about wildlife, ocean and conservation issues with numerous arts & crafts, educational booths and surf lessons. MWK hosted a booth where children painted creatures found in Biscayne Bay on their own personal canvases.
REEF Fishing Tournament – MWK participated in local high school Ransom Everglades’ alumni fishing tournament. Alumni members of MWK sponsored an entry boat to highlight and promote MWK’s conservation work for fisheries and benthic communities in Biscayne Bay.
