Miami Waterkeeper thanks you, the community, for a record-breaking 2021 Give Miami Day! We’re immensely grateful to the 405 supporters who joined us in securing $124,901 in funding for clean water.

The first $15,000 of this funding was matched dollar-for-dollar by the Charlesmead Foundation, and all gifts were partially matched by The Miami Foundation, bringing our final total raised through Give Miami Day to more than $145,000!

We would not have been able to secure such phenomenal support without our Champions for Clean Water. Thank you to those individuals who set up a personal fundraising page and spread the word about our work.

Miami Waterkeeper works to ensure swimmable, drinkable, fishable water for all. Your Give Miami Day contributions will propel us to make 2022 the best year yet for Miami’s clean water movement.

This year has seen momentous victories for clean water. Following a wave of momentum in local governments brought about by our advocacy, Miami-Dade County passed a strong fertilizer ordinance that will reduce the likelihood of fish kills and algae blooms in Biscayne Bay.  This year also saw the completion of 10,000 corals outplanted in Miami-Dade County as a result of our settlement of Endangered Species Act litigation over the PortMiami dredging damage to our reefs. Prof. Diego Lirman at the University of Miami completed the work, and saw the first spawning of outplanted Acropora in Miami-Dade.

We made our 1,000 Eyes on the Water pollution reporting training available in Spanish for the first time, representing a huge outreach effort to the Spanish-speaking community. We also launched a pollution reporting app for members of the community to quickly and easily submit reports whenever they see pollution. These efforts made pollution training and reporting accessible and to the vast majority of our community.

We have a lot more to do in 2022, and your support on Give Miami Day will help us to protect the water you love.

Click HERE to donate before year’s end to help us make this happen.
