We are thrilled to announce the addition of our newest board member, Greg Clark. Greg has already been an incredible asset to Miami Waterkeeper, bringing his positive energy and diverse experience to the organization. 
Greg is deeply connected to our mission to secure clean water for Miami. He has witnessed the effects of water pollution on local communities firsthand. Growing up, the water around Greg’s hometown on Shelter Island, NY, suffered from severe and long-lasting “brown tides” that developed after water quality declined and pollution increased. This severe algae bloom had a catastrophic impact on the entire ecosystem, drastically reducing shellfish and fish populations and virtually eliminating entire fishing industries that once thrived in the area. In 1987, the New York Times reported that, as a direct result of water pollution and the brown tide, the fishing industry in the area lost hundreds of millions of dollars, particularly in the bay scallop industry.
Greg explains, “I am excited to be a part of Miami Waterkeeper because I share its mission to see Biscayne Bay and the surrounding waters clean and thriving with life for myself and my children. I think businesses should pay close attention to issues regarding our bays and corals as the gem that is Biscayne Bay drives a staggering amount of Miami’s economy, from fishing to tourism to real estate. I have seen the impact of poor water quality in my own life, and want to prevent the same damage from occurring here in south Florida. Biscayne Bay is on the brink of a massive bloom too, and needs all of our help to keep it healthy and thriving.
Greg is the current Vice President at Deutsche Bank in Miami and is also on the board of the Overtown Music Project. He became a Miami resident in 2003 and enjoys spending time fishing and sailing in Biscayne Bay with his wife Ana and children Sophia, Julia, and Isabella.
