The Miami Herald previewed “The Future We Build,” a new short documentary on the compounding crises facing Miami, opening with environmental advocate Rachel Silverstein speaking frankly about sea-level rise as dry-day flooding swallows the shoreline behind her at Matheson Hammock Park.

The teaser pairs her with housing advocate Annie Lord on an affordability crisis that has “exploded,” urban designer Juan Mullerat on decades of poor planning, and University of Miami professor Joanna Lombard, who calls the resulting disconnection and lack of walkability “deleterious to health and well-being.”
