Time Out spotlighted Baynanza, the county-wide Biscayne Bay cleanup that has drawn more than 100,000 volunteers and collected over 500 tons of trash since 1982. Miami Waterkeeper oversaw the Morningside Park and Picnic Islands sites, and our education and outreach manager Erin Cover placed the day in context — cleanups treat the symptom, while our year-round testing at 22 sites monitors the bay’s deeper health: “The bay is — right now — not doing great.”
