With Biscayne Bay ‘crying for help,’ researchers assess ‘grim’ damage from massive fish kill

Local 10 News reported on the massive October fish kill in Biscayne Bay, where crews pulled more than two tons of dead fish from the northern basin as researchers found pockets of zero-oxygen water suffocating marine life — two years after a 2020 event killed 27,000. Miami Waterkeeper Executive Director Rachel Silverstein called it “the worst fish kill that we’ve seen since 2020” and traced it to “pollution coming from septic tanks, from storm water runoff, from sewage leaks and from fertilizer.”
