Local 10 News reported on the alarm among Brickell residents over repeated groundwater upwelling at the Una Residences site — a 47-story luxury tower excavating what’s billed as Miami’s deepest underground garage near Biscayne Bay’s Manatee Park. Miami Waterkeeper Executive Director Rachel Silverstein explained the underlying challenge: “It is very difficult to do construction underground in South Florida because we have very porous limestone rock beneath us. We also happen to have a shallow water table.”
