Biscayne Bay report shows no improvement, remains at “tipping point”

The Key Biscayne Independent reported on the D-minus grade Biscayne Bay drew in the county’s latest report card — not a single area rated “good,” three worsening to “poor” — three years after the bay’s largest recorded fish kill claimed 27,000 marine creatures. Miami Waterkeeper policy director Audrey Siu warned the bay is nearing a “tipping point”: “We are seeing a regime shift where seagrass is dying off in vast quantities and being replaced by algae.”
