Conservationists intend to sue US Fish and Wildlife for failing to protect Florida’s manatees

Local 10 News reported on the conservationists moving to sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for failing to protect Florida’s manatees — more than 2,000 dead since 2020, roughly 20% of the population, largely from starvation as pollution destroys their seagrass. Miami Waterkeeper’s Amanda Prieto, part of the coalition behind the suit, argued the 2017 down-listing from endangered to threatened was premature: “This is really a tipping point… we need to make some drastic changes.”
