Miami, a fave among spring breakers, is already feeling the effects of rising seas

FOX Weather reported on how climate change and sea-level rise — 10 to 12 inches expected by 2050 — threaten the Miami beaches that draw millions of spring-break visitors, driving “sunny day flooding” and pushing pollution into the water as rising groundwater floods the county’s 120,000-plus septic tanks. Miami Waterkeeper Executive Director Rachel Silverstein underscored the stakes: “Eighty percent of visitors that come to Miami go in the water while they’re here. So it’s a really critical part of our culture, our economy and why people want to live in Miami.”
